On April 29, 2021 the Government of Japan decided to confer decorations to Dr. Wolfgang Brenn, EJEA founder, former managing member of the executive committee as well as treasurer and member. On September 17, 2021 the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, was awarded by Mr. Hidenao Yanagi, the Japanese ambassador to Germany at the Japanese Embassy in Berlin, alongside Dr. Friederike Bosse, the former Secretary General of Japanese-German Center Berlin, who received the Order in 2020.

Dr. Wolfgang Brenn is former first secretary for press and culture of the embassy of the federal republic of Germany in Tokyo, former head of project management of the Japanese-German Center Berlin. His many years’ contribution to promoting academic exchanges and mutual understanding between Japan and Germany is honored by the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette by the Japanese government.
