Empowering EU-Japan Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation – Key programmes to facilitate EU-Japan Cooperation:

  • highlighted the current state of EU-Japan STI cooperation;
  • gave an overview of programmes that can facilitate EU-Japan STI cooperation;
  • featured presentations by three key Japanese research funding agencies on tools to advance cooperation with Europe;
  • and reported on the outcomes of the EU-funded JEUPISTE project.

5th Science and Technology Basic Plan adopted, 12/2015

The Cabinet Office in Japan has adopted the 5th Science and Technology Basic Plan. Japan’s S&T administration operates under the basic policies of the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (CSTI) chaired by the Prime Minister, and works to promote S&T in coordination with related ministries. These basic plans are made every 5 years an four Science and Technology Basic Plans have been established already since 1996.
